Our Story

The Bonaventure Lodge has been owned by the Reher family for over 40 years. Currently operated by Florian and Carol Reher, we hope you feel like family in a place that means so much to us.

Helga and Klaus Reher immigrated to Canada, making the Bonaventure Lodge their Canadian dream. Bringing a German and European flair to their new found love for Eastern Canadian seafood, they made the restaurant a local favourite. Helga’s freshly baked bread became synonymous with her hospitality and warm presence.

After Helga and Klaus’s passing, their three sons have taken over the family business. Renovating the buildings they helped their parents build has been a journey to the past. With tradition in mind, and nostalgia for days spent with loved ones on the Lodge beaches, we hope you will be able to create your own cherished memories here.
